Bilor Kurghinyan, PhDAdjunct Lecturer

Bilor is involved in the research and product development projects of Precision Sensors & Instrumentation, LLC (PSI Ltd. ‒ www.psi.am), the Armenian company which is developing and producing sensors based on a new principle of operation technology (SFCO‒sensors) invented by the company’s founder. He was also involved in research projects of the center on “Superconductivity & Sci. Instrumentation,” founded in 2007, in frames of the NFSAT-CRDF project (award # UCEP 07/07, 2007‒ 2010). He has investigated and explained the weakly expressed behavior of the normal to Super-Conductive (SC) phase transition. He also took active participation in designing the new test-instrument (“magnetic-field” probe) for “visualization” of super-fine superconductive properties of thin plate-like high-temperature SC materials (so-called FFLO effect) by the use of the new principle of operation above SFCO measurement technology.

Bilor is the team leader of Armenia in the International Physics Olympiads since 2012 (to date) and prepares the national team and students of the Special Physics-Mathematical (Phys-Math) School for physics Olympiads. He has been a jury member of the International Experimental Physics Olympiad in 2018 and 2019.

The fusion of these two disciplines allows him to explore the topography and the dynamics of the human body in motion which is channeled through the construction of the garment and its movement through the environment. This exploration allows him to design items that express the world around us through shape, form, and space. He has shown his collections at MBFW NY, and LAFW. Multiple publications have reviewed his collections.

Zaruhi Karabekian, PhDAdjunct Lecturer

Zaruhi (Zara) joined CSE as an Adjunct Lecturer in 2022.  Z. Karabekian received a PhD in Biomedical Sciences from Eastern Virginia Medical School and Old Dominion University in 2001. She spent next twenty-one years in the USA working at the National Institute of Health’s, Tolergenics startup and The George Washington University. Upon returning to the Motherland, she applied herself as teacher at Ayb High school and a Head of the Immunology and Tissue Engineering Laboratory at the Orbeli Institute of Physiology of NAS RA. Her current research interest is immunological assessment of newly generated tissues and/or organs. Combination of decellularization techniques or 3D printing with conditioning with mesenchymal stem cells following recellularization results in unique tissues that have never been assessed for their viability, durability, and immunogenicity.
