Project Description
ResponDrone (May 2019 – April 2022) developed an integrated situational awareness system that enables first responders to operate multiple drones in coordinated missions during emergencies and disasters. The system combines drone technologies, video analytics, mission planning, and decision-support tools to provide real-time information, improve communication and enhance emergency response capabilities. The project supported applications such as search and rescue, disaster assessment and forest fire management.
Project Objectives
- Develop an integrated multi-drone system to support emergency response operations.
- Improve situational awareness through real-time data collection, processing and analysis.
- Enhance the speed, effectiveness and safety of first responders during disasters.
- Support search and rescue, disaster assessment and wildfire response with advanced drone technologies.
- Identify operational requirements and best practices for integrating drones into disaster management.
- Address ethical, legal, technical and operational challenges related to drone deployment.
